Main Deity: Fude Zhengshen. Historical Overview: Ximen Fude Temple in Changhua (County-Designated Historic Site) enshrines Fude Zhengshen, commonly known as the Earth God, the guardian deity of the land, hence it is also called the Great West Gate Earth God Temple. The exact founding date is unknown, but a historical plaque from the Qianlong period displayed inside the temple suggests it was established around that time. In the history of Taiwanese pioneers cultivating the land, the worship of Fude Zhengshen was extremely widespread. In rural areas, he was revered as the deity of the community, and in urban markets, merchants worshipped him as the God of Wealth, hence the saying, "Earth Gods are found at the head of the fields, the end of the fields, the streets, and the alleys." In the past, Changhua County had four city gates: East Gate (Legeng Gate), West Gate (Qingfeng Gate), South Gate (Xuanping Gate), and North Gate (Gongchen Gate). Near the inner side of each city gate, an Earth God shrine was built.
