Puyan Shuntze Temple. During the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, the Chen family from Quanzhou, Fujian, migrated to Taiwan and settled in the present-day Puyan Village. They respectfully enshrined the spirit of Xuan Tian Shang Di and established the Puyan Shuntze Temple. Later, some of their descendants moved to Xihu and established Xuan Tian Temple by bringing the 'Second Emperor'; some moved to Xiushui and established San Sheng Temple by bringing the 'Third Emperor'. The three sister temples once held gatherings where members of each temple's management committee came together, happily reminiscing about their shared history of nurturing auspiciousness! Puyan Shuntze Temple is renowned for its divine miracles, with many legends passed down in the local community. The temple was rebuilt after a fire in 1948 and again demolished and rebuilt in 1998. Its design is quite unique; to enter the temple, one must ascend two curved stone steps that encircle a curved stone dragon wall. The carved dragons on the wall are lifelike and majestic. The temple interior features abundant exquisite wood carvings, making it very opulent. The most distinctive feature of Puyan Shuntze Temple is a rare clay statue of Xuan Tian Shang Di. In 1948, Puyan Shuntze Temple was devastated by fire, and the temple was reduced to ashes. During the reconstruction, a statue of Xuan Tian Shang Di was molded from clay. It is now over fifty years old and still remarkably well-preserved, truly worthy of being classified as a national treasure historical artifact. Main Deity: Xuan Tian Shang Di.
