Hung Yi Museum. Master Hung Yi graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Mingdao High School in 1988, began working in installation art in 1990, and was selected for residency in 2000. He is now an internationally renowned artist. His works are very vibrant and mostly feature animal shapes, sparking imagination and wonder! The museum displays some of his works from high school and pieces that have accompanied him from international exhibitions in places like New York and Washington, including many two-dimensional and three-dimensional sculptures. With the philosophy of "localization is internationalization," Hung Yi believes that flowers grow according to the soil they are planted in. When contemplating Taiwanese local style, he symbolizes elements from life and folk culture, layering soft, colorful, and solid cultural imprints onto a strong inner steel frame. These symbols, such as floral fabrics, blessings, paper cuttings, and blue and white porcelain, are skillfully employed by him to transcend the fixed, singular meanings of tradition, creating greater imagination and inclusivity. They blend and connect to new visuals and possibilities, possessing a highly personal style. Hung Yi also symbolizes the "museum" itself, creating it as a work of art, using postmodern concepts to integrate different buildings.
