They include trees, animals, shells, and other organisms buried by volcanic lava. They can only become fossils under extremely harsh high-temperature and low-pressure conditions. Some, due to the integration of volcanic material and high-temperature physical and chemical changes, have transformed into crystalline jade. Experts consulted by the museum estimate the probability of petrified wood to be one in a million, meaning only one in a million trees buried by volcanic eruptions becomes petrified wood, and petrified wood jade is even rarer. The Petrified Wood Exhibition Hall is located within the Long Sheng Horticultural Supplies Store on Minsheng Road in the Tianwei Highway Garden. It covers an area of 500 ping and houses over 3,000 bizarre petrified wood and gemstones, each billions of years old. Some are entire tree trunks, some are fossils still in the process of formation, and some stones display over thirty colors, appearing mottled and brilliant. The museum also has a sales area where visitors can purchase fossils they like. The cleaning fee can be used as a credit towards purchases.
