Dongpu Hot Springs. A newly built public hot spring foot bath in Dongpu Plaza allows visitors to enjoy the White Deer Legend landmark and Dongpu's scenery while soaking their feet. A newly built public hot spring foot bath in Dongpu Plaza allows visitors to enjoy the White Deer Legend landmark and Dongpu's mountain views while soaking their feet, offering visitors to Dongpu a more intimate way to experience the hot springs and scenery. The inspiration for the White Deer Legend landmark comes from a local Bunun legend about a deer, mistaken for a wild boar by a hunter and injured, who healed its wounds by soaking in Dongpu Hot Springs. Designer Xiao Qing-yang created a 3-meter-long, 1.5-meter-high white deer sculpture based on this legend, symbolizing the healing properties of Dongpu Hot Springs. The Dongpu Hot Springs Plaza, newly completed in 2020, features stone slab walls symbolizing traditional Bunun stone houses, allowing visitors to experience the culture of this Bunun settlement upon entering the plaza. The space within the plaza can also be used for events such as markets, bringing people closer to Dongpu.
