Former legislator Wang Li-ping spent two years renovating this over seventy-year-old "Shinkō" style house hidden in Huwei urban area, transforming it into a hub for promoting ecology, gender equality, and alternative globalization. This not only preserves a historic building in Yunlin but also adds a salon for promoting art, culture, ecology, and gender studies. Huwei House Salon is hidden in the alleys of Huwei urban area, in a building that combines "Japanese" and "Western" styles, built around the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it was submerged among other buildings, and not many Huwei residents knew about it. Over two years ago, Wang Li-ping acquired this building by chance and, after renovation, transformed it into a space dedicated to developing profound arts and culture. Huwei House Salon is the first space in Yunlin County to attempt to integrate art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature. Wang Li-ping stated that Huwei House preserves the beauty of this old building while incorporating many modern art creations, showcasing a spirit of thought and discussion, and preserving a public building worth savoring in Yunlin.
