The Origin of Yan Qing: Yan Qing Puppet Carving Studio was founded in 1974 by Mr. Xu Yanqing. Mr. Xu Yanqing was born in July 1951 in Gukeng Township, Yunlin County. From a young age, he enjoyed carving figures on wood. Over time, he became self-taught in carving lifelike puppet heads from wood. He then used colored brushes to depict various characters from his imagination, each with vivid expressions, thus venturing into the world of puppet carving.
