It was built in 1923 to supply power for Wushantou Reservoir, with electricity capable of being transmitted over a distance of 100 kilometers. Wutu Power Plant houses three well-preserved generator units that are still operational today. The water used by the plant is sourced from the Zhuoshui River and Qingshui River. The generator building features a Baroque-style brick structure with no beams, columns, or reinforced concrete. The internal machinery is also over 70 years old, making it an important asset in Taiwan's electricity development.
