Historical records indicate that he was one of the guardian deities when the Weng clan from Kegang, Anxi, Fujian, migrated and settled in Erzhuzhui Village during the late Kangxi period. Born at the end of the Sui Dynasty and raised in the Jiangnan region, he was intelligent from a young age. Facing the turbulent times, he viewed wealth and status as fleeting clouds, thus developing a desire for a life of purity and self-cultivation. He practiced diligently, secluded himself at Huxi, cultivated his character at Jiuling, attained enlightenment in Southern Fujian, and achieved spiritual realization at Donglu. He spread Buddhist footprints in Kegang, Anxi, and manifested divine miracles in Tongcheng. Dong Gong Zhenren originally resided in the Western Heavens as an ancient Buddha, descending to the East to become a high monk. He quickly grasped Zen principles, understood profound truths, deeply studied Taoism, and possessed subtle and exquisite wisdom. With a perfectly clear and true nature, his mind was set in tranquility, his body was imbued with virtue, all demons were subdued, and he roamed freely in the Pure Land. He constantly opened the gate of expedient means to ferry sentient beings in the Saha world, serving as a bridge for later generations. Thus, he was bestowed the title of the Heavenly Venerable of Compassion, Salvation, and Virtue. Later, due to his divine manifestations within the Jinbao Hall in Kegang, Anxi, Fujian, he became spiritually integrated into Tzuhua Temple, and is also known as the Old Ancestor. There are a total of seven Zhenren: Dong, Xu, Yang, Xu, Wu, Xue, and Zhao. As most of the Weng clan in Yizhu Township migrated from Kegang Township, Anxi, Fujian, to settle in Yizhu, they have now multiplied for over nine generations.
