The highest point in the park even allows for distant views of the Alishan mountain scenery. This area was originally a logging village established by residents of Alishan's Zhongzheng Village. With the increase in tourists, it later became the liveliest street for shops and inns. However, a fire in the winter of 1976 destroyed over a hundred homes and the entire Zhaoping commercial district. Subsequently, the Forestry Bureau reorganized and planned Zhaoping Park. As a result, most of the cherry trees in the park were planted after this fire. Although they don't have the seventy to eighty years of age like the Yoshino cherry trees at other viewing spots, this area has the highest density of cherry trees in Alishan, with approximately six hundred cherry trees planted throughout the park, making it the most crowded place for flower viewing. Zhaoping Park covers a large area and is planted with many types of alpine plants, serving as a base for various flower species in Alishan, making it possible to enjoy flowers almost all year round.
