Datan Village is the largest village in Xingang Township, predominantly inhabited by the Lin family. Legend has it that in the first half of the 17th century, a man surnamed Lin crossed the sea from Lunzai Village, Yongfeng Li, Nanjing County, to Taiwan, bringing with him a statue of the famous anti-Jin general Yue Fei for protection. Upon arriving in Datan Village, he initially enshrined the statue in his own home. As his descendants grew in number, they built a temple in the village to worship the deity, making it the only Yue Fei Temple in Chiayi County and the oldest Jingzhong Temple in Taiwan, having been brought from the east. To this day, on the 15th day of the second lunar month, Yue Fei's birthday, Datan Village holds a grand ceremony, with many villagers flocking to Jingzhong Temple to worship King Yue Wumu. Jingzhong Temple has become the enduring center of faith for the villagers of Datan.
