Niutiao Bay Pond was built during the Japanese colonial era for irrigation and water storage. It originally spanned over ten hectares and was rich in aquatic resources. However, due to environmental changes and lack of management, it became dirty and disorganized, severely impacting the local ecosystem and reducing its area to only 6.3 hectares. Subsequently, through the active mobilization of local residents and the collaborative efforts of the county and city governments, with the goals of 'Blue Niutiao Bay, a new fishing paradise; Green Niutiao Bay, a beautiful new world; Revitalized Niutiao Bay, a friendly new community,' it underwent a thorough renovation between 2003 and 2004. Approximately 3 hectares were developed, including a waterside plaza, garden lighting, an observation deck, a lakeside wooden boardwalk, and landscaping. Through these efforts, Niutiao Bay Pond has transformed into a beautiful new world. It now serves as a great place for local residents to gather and relax, stimulates nearby tourism, promotes rural leisure and ecological development in the region, re-emphasizes the importance of local aquatic resources, and enhances the quality of life in the area.
