In October of the Republic of China's 56th year (1967), the government began construction of the Tsengwen Reservoir. The original area was the heart of Dapu Township, renowned for producing high-quality rice. After land acquisition for the reservoir, there were 2,700 unmarked graves in the submerged area. With partial funding from government agencies and donations collected from local residents, the Tsengwen Temple Seven Treasures Pagoda was built to the left of the township office to house these unclaimed remains. To promote tourism in Dapu Township, the pagoda has been renovated and is now a religious tourist destination.
