On December 1, 1987, the Executive Yuan officially approved this land in Minxiong Township as the site for the university. The land that once nurtured all living things was transformed to undertake the new mission of cultivating students. Subsequently, the university established five graduate institutes: Chinese Literature, Applied Mathematics, Social Welfare, Information Engineering, and International Economics. As of now, it has developed into a well-established university. Chung Cheng University boasts a vast campus with beautiful architecture, and its most famous attractions are Ningjing Lake and Qingyuan. Ningjing Lake was originally a deep ditch on the south side of the campus. According to the campus planning concept by architect Shen Zu-hai, this ditch was developed into Ningjing Lake. A 20-meter wide high arch bridge spans the lake, serving as the starting point of the landscape axis connecting the north and south ends of the campus. In addition to its function as a transportation link, the arch bridge, resembling a rainbow lying on the water, is a significant scenic feature of the university. The lake area is home to swans and mallards that have successfully bred on campus. Qingyuan was initiated by the faculty and students of Chung Cheng University to commemorate the contributions of the university's founding president, Mr. Lin Ching-chiang, to its establishment, making it a place of considerable commemorative significance.
