Any immigrant wishing to board a ship to cross to Taiwan, carrying her incense and talismans, would be blessed with a safe arrival. In light of this, Yan brought the Second Mazu golden statue across the sea by ship to establish a temple in Bengang. He then resided in Shuishang Sanjiepu Puweilia, cultivating wasteland and hunting, living a primitive life, and subsequently guiding nearby villagers in production, leading to temporary improvements in security and living conditions. At that time, residents of Shuikutou Street (present-day Shuishang) were extremely envious. Several local gentry discussed establishing a Mazu temple locally, which received widespread support. When the temple was completed, local gentry discovered that the temple's location coincided with the center of 28 villages, as if the 28 constellations of heaven were shining brilliantly over Zhuluo (present-day Chiayi County).
