Pingtung Art Museum (former Township Office site) faces west and is a post-war, first-generation county-level city government building with local historical significance. It was designed and supervised by Township Office technician Lin Rong-chang. The building is 52m long, 20m wide, and covers an area of approximately 980㎡. It was completed and opened in October 1953 and served as the Township Office until July 2005 when the office moved to a new administrative building. The original site was borrowed by the County Government's Cultural Affairs Bureau for five years, and with subsidies from the Council for Cultural Affairs, it was renovated into an art museum. At the beginning of this year, as the lease expired, the Township Office reclaimed it for self-management. The County Government removed some interior facilities and all lighting fixtures. The Township Office is currently undertaking interior renovations, hoping to surprise citizens with a refreshed look upon reopening. Pingtung Art Museum's space exhibits the spatial characteristics of early modern architecture. The facade features rows of slender windows, with an extended eave at the entrance to emphasize its role. The interior space, apart from tall columns, has minimal partitions. Combined with the light introduced through the windows, the entire space offers a good sense of openness. Currently empty, Pingtung Art Museum's interior reveals a ceiling structure entirely built with fir beams, fully visible. Coupled with round or square window grilles and Western-style, leaf-shaped column capitals, the interplay of light and shadow enhances the unique beauty of the museum's architecture.
