Qiu Family, Henan Hall, Zhongshi Branch. Qiu Family Henan Hall Zhongshi Residence, located northwest of Zhongzheng Junior High School in Pingtung County, is a Hakka siheyuan (courtyard house) situated in the former Ako District. The Qiu Family's Henan Hall Zhongshi Residence, located northwest of Pingtung County's Zhongzheng Junior High School, is a Hakka siheyuan (courtyard house) situated in the former Ako District. It stands in the Changxing area, a place with frequent interactions among Hakka, Hoklo, and indigenous peoples, and is an important part of the "front pile" of the Hakka Liudui region. The Qiu ancestors originally resided within Changxing Village. After the end of the last battle of the Liudui resistance against the Japanese in 1895, descendants of Qiu Fengyang moved to Tianliao Village in the eastern district of Ako. The eldest brother, Qiu Yuankui, and his second son, Qiu Yuanshou, each built a Hakka siheyuan adjacent to each other, one to the north and one to the south. The building belonging to Qiu Yuanshou is the current Henan Hall Zhongshi Residence. In 1900, the Ako Taiwan Sugar Company was established. Qiu Yuanshou and his son, Qiu Qiushun, partnered with the sugar company to operate the sugar manufacturing business, accumulating wealth. They then rebuilt their original old house in 1915, a project that took three years to complete, resulting in the exquisite large siheyuan, Henan Hall Zhongshi Residence. In 1991, the two ancestral homes of the Qiu family were donated to the school for the expansion of Zhongzheng Junior High School's campus. Qiu Yuankui's residence was immediately demolished and became part of the school's sports field.
