Pingtung Yu Huang Temple. This temple originated from Bishan Hall in 1950, located within the Minzu Road Night Market. It venerates Meizhou Sanma (Three Mothers of Meizhou) with the aim of offering divine guidance and aid to the world. The hall master was Li Xingxian. By 1960, due to the noisy environment of the night market, it was relocated to a purchased shop in Ren'ai Road, Pingtung City, covering an area of 18 ping. It was officially renamed Yu Huang Temple and also began to venerate Xuan Tian Shang Di (Emperor of the Dark Heaven). The primary focus remained on divine guidance and aid, with Mr. Li Xingxian serving as the administrator. Due to the temple's miraculous divine manifestations, its divine power spread far and wide, attracting a flourishing incense trade with a continuous stream of pilgrims. It was realized that the original temple grounds were becoming increasingly cramped and could no longer accommodate the numerous devotees. In 1966, a proposal was made to find a new location and build a new temple. Later, Xuan Tian Shang Di indicated through divine oracle to choose the current site to establish a temporary temple, primarily worshipping Yu Huang Shang Di (Jade Emperor). In its early stages, it was a humble beginning with limited financial resources, and everything was done simply. After the temple foundation was laid, the Jade Emperor's grace was widely bestowed, and all beings received prompt responses to their prayers. Pilgrims flocked in large numbers, creating a bustling scene. During festivals, the facilities were still insufficient. Therefore, a proposal was made to rebuild on the same site. After the decision was made, fundraising and land acquisition began. Construction commenced in 1971. Throughout this period, with the concerted efforts of various benevolent believers, the temple endured hardships and overcame numerous challenges, finally completing construction and opening its doors for public worship in 1976.
