Originally located by the Wannian River, due to years of development in the surrounding area, the shrine is now surrounded by buildings. The land in front of the shrine, facing the riverbank, also has many structures separating the main shrine building from the Wannian River. However, the shrine has a square foundation and a complete layout. The Western-style archway at the front, the front courtyard, the main shrine building, and the raised earth mound at the back (the support behind the dwelling) all belong to the Zong Sheng Ancestral Shrine. Zong Sheng Ancestral Shrine fully embodies the architectural philosophy of Hakka homes, with a north-facing, south-oriented layout of two halls and two side rooms. The earth mound at the back serves as the mountain support, the dragon's head under the shrine's altar in the hall, the worship courtyard, the front hall, the gatehouse, and the half-moon pond leading to the Wannian River form a complete axis, presenting the traditional Hakka concept of Feng Shui.
