About a hundred years ago, the four brothers of the Gong family ancestors moved from Tukou Village, Ligang Township, Pingtung County, to settle in Qilao Village. The old house is a three-section courtyard building, covering an area of 3.3 chia, with a total of thirty interconnected rooms. In the center of the front yard is an altar dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, and in the center of the back yard is the ancestral shrine of the Gong family. The beams and pillars of the Gong family's architecture are made of "Fushan" from Fujian, which has remained strong and intact for a hundred years. The walls are about 36 cm thick, entirely built with a mixture of stones and lime, without any cement. The gate walls are carved with auspicious motifs such as landscapes, dragons and phoenixes, qilin, and cranes, which are still lifelike after a century of wind and rain. The walls of the windows are carved in the shape of books, with poems inscribed on them, each with different content, and the handwriting is still clearly visible today. The floors of the front and back yards are paved with red bricks laid in a diamond pattern to prevent cracking, demonstrating the scientific nature of the architecture.
