After Provincial Highway 9 was straightened in 1984 and the new Luming Bridge was built, the Luming Suspension Bridge's function was gradually replaced. Locals often call it the "Old Luming Suspension Bridge" or "Old Luming Bridge." In 2003, it was designated as a historical building by the Taitung County Government. Under the planning of the Yanping Township Office, it was renovated into the "Luming Suspension Bridge Scenic Area," with facilities such as a pedestrian viewing area and an observation deck.
