Dengxian Bridge is located on the south side of Dongfu Highway, spanning the deep and steep Mawu River Valley. This area was also known as "Shengxian Gorge" during the Japanese colonial period. A suspension bridge for ox carts was built here, which was the predecessor of Dengxian Bridge and the only way to and from Taiyuan Basin. Beside the current Dengxian Bridge Recreation Area, there is an old Dengxian Bridge, completed and opened to traffic in 1953. After the new bridge was completed, it was preserved and planned as a scenic bridge. The recreation area includes a viewing platform, parking lot, guardrails, and walking paths. Groups of Formosan macaques are often seen in Dengxian Bridge Recreation Area and Taiyuan Valley, foraging among the trees. They frequently wander onto the bridge and railings, allowing visitors to observe their playful antics.
