A bay formed by the remnants of an exploded crater, eroded by waves. The local term "hou" is a phonetic corruption of the Hokkien word for "bay." Therefore, the "hou" in Youzihou does not refer to a lake as we commonly understand it. On the eastern coast of the marine terrace, there are two small bays, Youzihou and Nanzihou, separated by only a small cape, each forming its own settlement. Both of these settlements have now been relocated, leaving behind only the ruins of houses with walls built from coral reef rocks (laogushi) and cement tile roofs.
