Also known as Couple Rock, the unique hollow shape of Jade Maiden Rock has sparked endless imagination among the Tao people (Yami people). In the past, the Tao people (Yami people) called Jade Maiden Rock 'ji-mavonot' (meaning bundle of reeds). This is because when viewed from the sea, the rock stands on the coast like a bundle of reeds. Another name is 'ji-mitazizik' (meaning leaning), which originates from a legend of the local Langdao tribe. According to the legend, Jade Maiden Rock was a filial child who used her body to stand between her parents, trying to persuade them to stop arguing. However, she was unable to stop their quarrel and stood by the coastal highway, shedding tears in silence, eventually turning into a rock that could never be called back.
