Zhongxing Outpost is located in Heping Village (locally known as Balayabay Village) in Luye Township. It is situated on the high ground where the Luye River and Beinan River converge, offering an extremely broad view, with vistas reaching Dulan Mountain, Baizinan Mountain, and the surrounding environment. During the martial law period, it served as a patrol post for the Luye River Bridge between Luye Station and Shanli Station, ensuring the safety of railway transportation. In 1982, due to the Taitung Line railway widening project by the Taiwan Railways Administration, Zhongxing Station was officially decommissioned, and Zhongxing Outpost was subsequently abolished. Today, it has become a hidden gem for many railway enthusiasts to photograph trains and a resting spot for cyclists on the Luye Township cycling route.
