Makutaay Bicycle Trail. Makutaay Tribe is the largest inland wetland in Hualien and the traditional settlement of the Amis people. After entering the bicycle trail from across Guangfu Sugar Factory, you will proceed along the Fudeng River originating from the Central Mountain Range. Along the way, you will see lotus fields irrigated by clean water sources, wetland springs, and abundant aquatic life. At the Agricultural and Specialty Product Exhibition and Sales Center, you can purchase lotus products, Makutaay beans, and other specialties. The Wetland Ecological Hall allows you to learn about the unique wetland ecosystem. The Ecological Fishing Pond offers an experience of the traditional indigenous fishing technique, "Balago." The trail passes through the Dragonfly Rehabilitation Area and Bailu Bridge, finally returning to Guangfu Sugar Factory along the same route. The entire route is well-planned, with many trails and pavilions constructed using wooden techniques, integrating with the concept of local ecological conservation for a bicycle tour that coexists harmoniously with the environment.
