The Yuehmei Mountain Trail is rich in flora and fauna. In autumn, there's even a chance to observe the majestic sight of Oriental Honey Buzzards circling in the sky. Mizhan Village is located on the beautiful Hualien County Highway 193, and it was an important resting stop for past cycling teams. This is the entrance to the Yuehmei Mountain Trail and one of the two national-level trails on the Coastal Mountain Range. Yuehmei Mountain is located at the junction of three villages: Yuehmei Village, Mizhan Village, and Yanliao Village in Shoufeng Township. Its summit, at an elevation of 614 meters, is not particularly high but has been included as one of Taiwan's Lesser Baiyue. For advanced hikers and trekkers, it's a good challenge. From the Rift Valley to the Central Mountain Range: Layered Scenery The Yuehmei Mountain Trail has two entrances, north and south. The northern entrance is near Hualien Bridge, while the southern entrance is in Mizhan Village. However, from Mizhan Village on County Highway 193, it's a 5.1-kilometer drive on an industrial road via Township Road 38-1 to the trail entrance. Therefore, you must have your own transportation to get to the Yuehmei Mountain Trail. The Forestry Bureau has set up a sign at the trail entrance. After passing the wooden boardwalk behind it, you officially enter the trail. The Yuehmei Mountain Trail is 4.8 kilometers long in total, and you walk along the main ridge of the Coastal Mountain Range. The vegetation on both sides is dense and tall, blocking the view along the way.
