Looking up from the foot of the mountain, you can see the abandoned cable car hanging on the mountaintop, telling the story of the Truku people who once lived here and their wisdom of life. The Dali settlement is at an altitude of 915 meters. Its old name was "Xoxos" in Truku, meaning "a place with many snakes." The "Dali Church" is the spiritual center of the settlement. Although it is no longer in use due to population migration, the church building is well-preserved. The Dali-Datong Trail, approximately 9.5 kilometers in length, winds through the area and can be divided into three sections: the 1.3-kilometer Dekalun Trail, the approximately 2.3-kilometer path from the end of the Dekalun Trail to the Dali settlement, and the approximately 6.2-kilometer journey from the Dali settlement to the Datong settlement. A one-day trip can be arranged to visit the Dali settlement, with an estimated round-trip hiking time of 7 hours. Visiting the Datong settlement requires a two-day itinerary. The trail is suitable for those with good physical fitness, and it is recommended to plan in advance and bring sufficient water and snacks. Dekalun Trail: Soaring Wooden Staircase The first part of the Dali-Datong Trail is the Dekalun Trail, approximately 1.3 kilometers long, named after the Dekalun settlement, which means "sweet gum" in the local language. Lush and vigorous trees surround the wooden staircase on both sides, which begins with a soaring ascent.
