Rafting is a popular water sport in the East. The canyon terrain and turbulent currents make for an exciting and fun rafting experience. The Xiuguluan River is the most popular rafting spot in Taiwan. From the Ruishui Bridge to the Changhong Bridge estuary, a 24-kilometer stretch of river features majestic canyons, numerous strange rock formations, and over twenty large and small rapids and treacherous shoals, giving you an idea of the danger involved. The entire rafting trip takes about three to four hours, with a break at the Qimei rest area to replenish energy before continuing the adventure. The thrilling and exciting rafting has become a must-do activity for young people visiting Hualien. Rafting is available year-round, with the peak season typically from April to October. Generally, rafting boats depart between 7 AM and 12 PM. Departures in the afternoon are rare, and no boats are allowed to depart after 3 PM.
