The Heren area, due to its proximity to the relatively short Liangli River and the steep upstream riverbed, has its transported gravel rapidly washed to the river mouth and accumulated, forming the gravel beach landscape seen today. The entrance to the Heren Trail is next to the national park's Heren boundary marker on the Suhua Highway (the trail and entrance are currently damaged due to a typhoon). The trail is about 165 meters long. After exiting the trail and walking through a small grove of trees, you can reach Heren Beach. The first thing that catches your eye are the large and small stones on the beach. These stones from the rock walls have rolled down to the seaside due to landslides. The gravel of marble and gneiss washed down by the Heren River on the north side is rolled ashore by the waves and accumulated over the years to form a large, clean, and smooth gravel beach.
