Qixingtan Coastal Scenic Area. Qixingtan is Hualien County's only county-level scenic area, also known as Crescent Bay. It features a strait formed by a fault and a beautiful arc-shaped bay, boasting rich natural and cultural landscapes. The seawater is clean and azure, and the black stones are crystal clear. From here, one can gaze at the lush green mountains and the winding highway. The scenic area extends from the coast to the Qixingtan community. Qixingtan is adjacent to Taroko National Park, the East Coast National Scenic Area, and the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area. With years of development and maintenance by the Hualien County Government, Qixingtan has become one of Hualien's premier scenic spots. At Qixingtan, you can not only overlook the Qingshui Cliff but also clearly see the lights of Xincheng and Chongde at night, making it a great place for locals to enjoy night views and stargaze. The Qixingtan Scenic Area has a cycling path, allowing visitors to explore popular attractions like Nanbin Park, the Stone Sculpture Museum, and the Stargazing Plaza. The 21-kilometer cycling route offers visitors a different visual experience. Additionally, near the fishing grounds, there are interpretive signs about marine ecology, and a coastal botanical garden has been established within the windbreak forest area, allowing the public to gain knowledge in addition to enjoying the sights.
