Inside, you can still see traces of old railway tracks and get closer to the sea and ships (perhaps this is what is meant by waterfront). Nearby, there are also the Hualien Port Scenic Bridge and the Old Hualien Port Station. In this area, you can watch ships entering and leaving the port. The area is spacious and suitable for walking, exercising, and cycling. The nearby scenic bridge allows you to view the train shunting at the Old Hualien Port Station and overlook the Pacific Ocean, making it a good spot for watching the sunrise. Looking south towards the mouth of the Hualien River, it is an excellent vantage point for viewing the entire Hualien Port. There is a wooden boardwalk next to the bridge for pedestrians to stroll and enjoy the view. It is equipped with a ramp, and the entrance to the scenic bridge is about 90 cm wide, allowing wheelchair access. To the left of the circular viewing platform, you can access the "Waterfront Recreation Area," but there is a barrier, so be aware. The ramp is long and steep. If you want to go down to visit, it is recommended to use another entrance by car, which passes by the Old Hualien Port Station and leads you there after crossing a level crossing. The air is fresh, making it a relaxing and comfortable leisure spot.
