Liyu Lake. Liyu Lake is the largest inland lake in eastern Taiwan. Liyu Lake is the largest inland lake in eastern Taiwan. Every summer, the "Red Face Duck" family quietly "swims" here, spending a happy summer vacation with people of all ages. Due to headward erosion, river capture has occurred between the Pinghe and Baobai Rivers, and between the Lao and Baobai Rivers, causing the direction of the Lao River to change. The water flow of the Guduanlan River has drastically decreased. Additionally, the alluvial fan of the Wenlan River on the north side of Liyu Lake has collapsed and silted up, causing the outlet of Liyu Lake to become blocked and the Lao River to flow underground, forming a barrier lake, which is the Liyu Lake of today. Liyu Lake is a popular scenic spot where you can enjoy a leisurely boat ride, cycle around the lake, or stroll along the waterfront. The waterfront recreational area on the west side of the lake offers various water activities and facilities, suitable for families to relax and enjoy the scenery. The approximately 5-kilometer dedicated cycling path around the lake allows cyclists to explore the pleasant lake and mountain views. On Liyu Mountain, which stands at an elevation of 601 meters, there are several forest trails, making it an ideal route for enjoying forest bathing, bird watching, flower viewing, and scenic walks.
