To commemorate this significant maritime disaster, a memorial stele was erected, with inscriptions facing the sea, expressing hopes for peace and the future. Today, the "1949 Taiping Wheel Memorial Park," located within the Shawan Historical and Cultural Park, stands as a testament to the joys and sorrows of that era. -Attraction Features-Beside the Dashan Bay beach, you can admire the inscription on the "Memorial Monument for the Victims of the Taiping Wheel Disaster," penned by Mr. Yu You-jen. It expresses longing and a call for the souls of loved ones who never reached the shore. The coral sand and gravel plaza and pathways in front of the monument symbolize the ship navigating between sea and land. The memorial monument was originally located within a military camp, requiring prior application for entry. After the park opened to the public in 2018, the longing of family members was no longer restricted, and this tragic story set against the backdrop of a grand historical era became known and passed down to more people.
