Built in the 18th year of Jiaqing (1818), the temple has a history of over two hundred years and is one of the three major temples in the city. The temple has undergone multiple renovations while retaining its original appearance. The main deity enshrined in the main hall, the City God, is said to represent the spirit of integrity and protection, symbolizing incorruptibility and guardianship. The enshrined clay statue of the City God with a powdered face, and several black-faced wooden City Gods, are flanked by civil and military judges, six officials, and six generals. Despite experiencing wartime, the temple structure has remained intact and well-preserved, regarded by locals as a symbol of divine power. It continues to be a popular place of worship, safeguarding Keelung Harbor and its residents. -Attraction Features-The temple is situated in the city facing the sea, with a typical three-hall architectural layout. The rear hall is two stories high, exuding a solemn atmosphere. Every year on the third day of the third lunar month, the "Birthday of the Old City God" and the annual "City God Cultural Festival" are celebrated with great fanfare, attracting a large number of devotees and marking one of Keelung's significant annual religious and cultural events.
