Between the emplacements are underground ammunition depots or command posts, with high ground on both sides serving as command posts and observation posts. Lined up in a row, they seem to still watch over the boundary between sea and sky, surveying the vast and boundless distance. Three towering chimneys come into view, reminding us that the power plant is in operation. As the sea breeze blows, the gears of time slowly turn, allowing one to feel the charming allure of history intertwined with nature. -Attraction Features-Built in the past to defend against enemies from the sea, the Batteries of Pa-mi-wong are rumored to have had preliminary defenses as early as the Spanish and Dutch colonial periods, to protect the port's San Salvador Castle (Dutch rule: Fort Noord-Holland). Standing at the firing command post and the second observation post on the eastern hill of the batteries, one can gaze at the entire Keelung Harbor and imagine the imposing presence of soldiers on high alert in those days.
