The old Qidu Railway Station on Guangming Road in Keelung was built during the Japanese colonial era and has a history of over a hundred years. Among the railway stations in Taiwan, it is one of the few that has remained largely intact without demolition and reconstruction. However, to promote land utilization and align with local development, the former Qidu Front Station (Old Station) was decommissioned in 2007 due to railway line switching. The wooden station building was then transferred to the Keelung City Cultural Affairs Bureau. After professional designers were hired by the bureau, the wooden station was renovated to its original appearance. The entire wooden structure was dismantled and reassembled at the Railway Park, about 30 meters from the original site of the old Qidu Station. The all-wooden railway station has thus been restored to its former glory, preserving old culture while creating a recreational environment. The old Qidu Railway Station (Front Station) faced demolition or preservation due to the widening of Guangming Road. After efforts by local residents and historical groups, and with strong support from the city government, the railway authorities agreed to a plan of dismantling, relocating, and reassembling for preservation. This initiative aimed to preserve one of Taiwan's rare wooden stations and enrich Taiwan's railway cultural heritage.
