Fo Guang Shan Jile Temple is located in Xinyi District, the heart of Keelung City. It is a multi-functional spiritual center that encompasses culture, art, social education, Dharma propagation, and communal practice, combining tradition with modernity. There is a parking lot across the street. It is bordered by the Keelung Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare to the east, the Martyrs' Shrine to the west, Zhongzheng Park to the north, and Tianliao River to the south. Situated in the administrative and cultural-educational center of Keelung City, it boasts excellent accessibility, convenient transportation, and a beautiful environment with mountains behind and water in front. Jile Temple is built along the mountain, with its golden roof tiles shimmering in the sunlight. During rainy seasons, it evokes a sense of widespread Dharma water. The eight-story building stands majestically on a bustling commercial street, appearing harmonious, solemn, and highly conspicuous. At the center of the temple gate, a smiling Maitreya Bodhisattva welcomes visitors, bearing witness to the temple's characteristic joy and compassion since its founding by Venerable Master Xiu Hui. Inside and outside the temple, lush flowers and trees create a beautiful and serene environment, offering a spiritual home for modern people to relax their body, mind, and spirit. The predecessor of Jile Temple, "Guangzun Temple," was founded in 1905 during the Japanese colonial period. It was later taken over by Fo Guang Shan and rebuilt in 1991, becoming Fo Guang Shan's largest spiritual center in northern Taiwan. Its style is modern yet traditional. In addition to general meditation halls, lecture halls, and a library, it also features a social education center, a vegetarian restaurant, and various other facilities. The exterior of the Grand Hall is magnificent.
