After the closure of the Tianwaitian Sanitary Landfill in Keelung City at the end of 2005, it was rebuilt into "Tianwaitian Environmental Park," located on Peide Road, Xinyi District, Keelung City. After six years of three-phase restoration, it was officially inaugurated as Tianwaitian Environmental Park by the Keelung City Government in 2011, providing citizens with a recreational space to enjoy the green mountains and clear waters! The park is planted with a diverse range of plants, attracting various species of animals to inhabit, creating rich biodiversity. Not only is the grassland lush and green, but flocks of Taiwan blue magpies also fly through the sky. It is a suitable place for families to go for a stroll. In the future, the park will be planned for farm-style operation with five areas: catering services, free-range animals, wild grasslands, flower sea landscapes, and ecological conservation. Visitors can follow Peide Road upwards, with a trail leading to the park on one side. Along the trail, there are some decommissioned environmental operation machinery for the public to view up close. Continuing along the trail, you will pass the waste recycling (incineration) plant to reach the park.
