The pride of Chiayi people – Artist Chen Cheng-po! Mr. Chen Cheng-po is an outstanding Taiwanese senior artist, and his paintings have been auctioned for over NT$100 million. His famous painting "Tamsui Sunset" was sold for approximately NT$212 million at Christie's Hong Kong auction in 2007, setting a record for the highest international auction price for Taiwanese paintings. Many of Mr. Chen Cheng-po's works depict the scenery and people of his hometown. The sights and objects of Chiayi have been passed down and gained fame through his artistic skills. In March 2001, the Chen Cheng-po Cultural Foundation provided nine replica oil paintings, which were erected in Chiayi Park. This was the first time in Taiwan that oil paintings were combined with park attractions, greatly enhancing the artistic atmosphere of Chiayi Park. Mr. Chen Cheng-po possessed noble character and outstanding artistic skills, making him the pride of Chiayi people.
