The busiest and most important ferry crossing was next to Mituo Temple. It is said that in the 54th year of Kangxi, Zhou Zhongxuan, the magistrate of Zhuluo, called for donations and organized rafts to help people cross the river. The Bazhang River (ancient name Bazhang River) is one of the main rivers in the Chianan Plain. In early times, long bridges could not be built, so a ferry crossing was established next to Mituo Temple for rafts to cross the river. The "Bazhang River Ferry Stele" carved in 1847 is still preserved today. This type of ferry stele, which matches the environment, is extremely precious and rare in Taiwan. The Bazhang River is located south of the Puzi River and north of the Jishui River. It flows through Fanlu Township, Zhongpu Township, Shuishang Township, Taibao City, Lucao Township, Yizhu Township, Budai Township in Chiayi County, and Beimen District, Yanshui District, Xuejia District, Houbi District, Baihe District in Tainan City. It finally flows into the Taiwan Strait near Haomei Village in Chiayi County. The flow rate of the Bazhang River during flood periods can reach about 1,800 cubic meters per second, but during the dry season, it is only 0.4 cubic meters per second. The change in water volume is very large. During the flood seasons of summer and autumn, the Bazhang River swells.
