The Japanese-style houses built around that time used cypress wood for construction, which is a major characteristic of Japanese architecture and a historical testament to the development of forestry in Alishan. The operational area of Hinoki Village is mainly the area on both sides of Linsen East Road. The entire park covers an area of 3.4 hectares. The northern part is the area where the current "One Heart Two Leaves Hall" is located, which was originally a cluster of dormitories for lower-ranking Japanese staff in the early days, while the southern area was for high-ranking officials' residences. After more than sixty years of weathering, Hinoki Town has been restored using traditional Japanese craftsmanship and as many original materials as possible, with 29 wooden historical buildings preserved. After four years of renovation, the former glory of Hinoki Village has been recreated. It is not only Taiwan's earliest forestry village but also the most complete and extensive complex of Japanese-style official residences. The municipal historic site, the Forestry Club, was built around 1914 and served as a recreational facility for the Forestry Bureau of the Taiwan Governor-General's Office at that time.
