Jiayo Bike Trail is built on the disused old CPC railway, starting from the CPC factory area on Shihxian Road, Section 4, Chiayi City. It passes through four villages: Meiyuan, Guanglu, Shizi, and Hongwacuo, as well as three villages in Shuishang Township, Chiayi: Sanhe, Xialiao, and Huigui. It reaches the North Return Line Astronomical Plaza, with a total length of 3500 meters. It is planned as a dedicated bicycle path and a scenic green corridor, enhancing Chiayi City's recreational and tourism resources. The newly planned landscape green belt consists of 2-meter-wide bicycle paths on both sides of the original railway. Depending on the terrain and hydrology along the route, rest pavilions, wetland ecosystems, and lotus ponds are set up. Trees and shrubs of various sizes are planted along the roadside, and entrance flower corridors are erected at important road intersections, fully satisfying the multi-functional needs of ecology, aesthetics, tourism, and recreation. Jiayo Bike Trail was formerly part of the "Chiayi Chemical Plant." Its special historical background makes it a rare industrial relic in Taiwan and a precious cultural landscape resource. The Chiayi City Government has given new life to the old railway through meticulous planning, transforming it into a dedicated bicycle path and a walking trail for the public.
