This location is the tenth place in the world to build a Tropic of Cancer marker. The Tropic of Cancer marker serves as the boundary between the Northern Temperate Zone and the Tropics. The Arctic Circle marker, the Tropic of Cancer marker, and the Equator marker are all important global landmarks used to distinguish the five zones: North Frigid Zone, North Temperate Zone, Torrid Zone, South Temperate Zone, and South Frigid Zone. The Tropic of Cancer marker group in Chiayi City is located at a key transportation hub in the southwest of the city. It is essentially a group of intersection landmarks, representing four different years. Although small, it holds significance for transportation, tourism, history, culture, and earth science education. Currently, a "Pictorial Inscription" is built on the central median to the northwest, with a brief explanation of the marker's importance carved in marble.
