The museum building covers an area of 267 square meters, and the administrative office building covers an area of 208 square meters. The two buildings are connected by a corridor. If the central corridor is taken as the connecting axis, a considerable overall space is formed. The overall layout of the Japanese "Shōin-zukuri" structure, its architectural elements, and service functions are quite rare and unique in Taiwan, with elegant artistic expression and high artistic and craftsmanship value. The two buildings of the Historical Archives Museum belong to the Japanese "Shōin-zukuri" architectural style, using elements such as ceilings, paper sliding doors, and verandas. The roof is of the "Irimoya-zukuri" style, similar to the traditional Chinese hip-and-gable roof. The eaves, ridges, gables, hip ridges, and main ridges all use Japanese architectural elements. The upper part of the exterior walls of the building has boat-shaped brackets (dougong), and the lower part adopts the "Makabe" style. The foundation is a low-lying raised floor style. As for doors and windows, most doors are sliding doors, with only a few push-pull doors. There are four types of windows: glass sliding windows, fixed grille windows, fixed grille with sliding glass windows, and paper sliding windows. The main hall, administrative office, chozuya (hand-washing basin), and utensil storage are representative of Japanese residential culture left behind. The utensil storage has concrete imitation.
