Located at the intersection of Wenhua Road and the main railway line in Chiayi City, "Song of the Forest" uses towering sacred trees and Alishan railway tracks as its main design elements to create a tranquil spiritual tower. Vertical wooden beams encircle the theme, resembling the coiled sacred trees of Alishan reaching for the sky. The outer curved pathways mimic the winding Alishan railway tracks, meandering through mountains and passing through tunnels. The woven rattan corridors create natural light and shadow effects, like the changing scenery of the forest train winding through Alishan. The stacked stones at the base of the main structure resemble the majestic presence of Alishan, presenting a sublime and magnificent image. Inspired by the Kuba architecture of the Alishan Tsou tribe and indigenous bamboo and rattan weaving. Utilizing materials such as wood, railway tracks, and stones provided by the Forestry Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, it offers the public an experience of natural surroundings. The bronze-plated golden dome allows sunlight to pour in with golden rays, and moonlight and starlight to transform; the interior of the main structure features beech and cypress flooring, filled with the scent of phytoncides. The penetrating, circular exterior reveals more of the wild beauty of nature. Through the transparent dome, the sky changes from day to night, showcasing the ever-surprising transformations of nature in Alishan! Visitors entering feel as free as if walking on clouds, experiencing the five senses of Alishan. The creator, Wang Wenzhi, was born in the greater Alishan area, drawing on the familiar essence of his hometown and his expertise in bamboo.
