The Alishan Forest Railway - Beimen Station, built with Taiwanese red cypress wood, was completed before the full opening of the Alishan Railway in 1912. Twenty years ago, after the construction of a new station, the old Beimen Station was converted into offices for carriage maintenance personnel. This station covers an area of approximately 28 ping and is mainly divided into three parts: an office, a ticket counter, and a waiting room. The Alishan Forest Railway is internationally famous for its rare features such as the 'spiral railway,' 'Z-shaped ascent,' and '62.5 per mille gradient.' Beimen Station is the starting station of the Alishan Railway. The station building is entirely constructed with high-quality red cypress building materials from Alishan, featuring a classic and elegant design. During the Japanese colonial period, forestry development was the most important source of economic income. Near Beimen Station, there were forestry offices, a log pond, a sawmill, a train repair shop, and a forestry club. The functions for the timber industry were complete, and Beimen Station became the distribution center for timber felled in Alishan, holding a significant position.
