Completed in 1972, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was designed by architect Wang Ta-tsung to commemorate the revolutionary deeds and character of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and to promote his thought and teachings. In addition to serving as a place for domestic and international visitors to pay tribute to Dr. Sun, it also functions as a center for cultural and artistic education, leisure, and academic research. The majestic and solemn main building is situated within the lush green Zhongshan Park, adorned with flourishing flowers and trees, making it a shining star in the eastern district of Taipei. It has also brought a new look to domestic culture and arts, hosting numerous artistic activities such as the Cultural Corridor, cultural and artistic exhibitions, and youth creative works. Furthermore, it offers excellent indoor performance spaces for theatrical events, including well-known ceremonies like the Golden Horse Awards and Golden Bell Awards. In the mornings, you can see elderly individuals practicing Tai Chi and folk dances here. On holidays, the spacious plaza is an ideal spot for families to play frisbee, rollerblade, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll.
