It was originally the most luxurious "Kashan Hot Spring Hotel" in the Beitou area. In 1983, founder Mr. Chang Chun-ming revitalized the historic site for reuse as a museum, establishing the "Taiwan Folk Art Museum." In 1987, it was officially renamed "Beitou Museum." Beitou Museum has always been dedicated to preserving and exhibiting early Taiwanese folk art and cultural relics. It currently houses nearly five thousand artifacts, focusing on Taiwanese folk crafts from the late Qing Dynasty, the Japanese colonial period, up to the 1970s. This collection includes over a thousand artifacts from Taiwan's indigenous peoples and over three thousand artifacts from Han Chinese ethnic groups, primarily Min and Hakka. Dining Beitou Museum also features a dining space, Yiranju, offering exquisite creative Kaiseki cuisine and afternoon tea, as well as venue rentals for small meetings. The outdoor Sakura Viewing Platform at Yiranju offers close-up views of Danfeng Mountain and distant views of Guanyin Mountain.
