In 1896, it was the site of an incident where anti-Japanese militia attacked Japanese teachers, known as the 'Zhishiyan Incident.' After Taiwan's retrocession, it also served as a military stronghold for the intelligence bureau. In recent years, under the planning of the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs, the ammunition depot here has been renovated into an exhibition hall. Visitors can enjoy nature on the natural boardwalks of Zhishan and also visit the exhibition hall to understand Zhishan's cultural background and explore the deepest secrets of Taipei City. The Zhishiyan Exhibition Hall combines Zhishan's natural ecology and geological landscape. The first floor is a physical exhibition room: a stratum model clearly shows the texture of the strata and the changes in each layer; a panoramic model provides a bird's-eye view of Zhishiyan; a pottery restoration model shows the evolution of utensils used by ancestors from rough to refined. The first floor has many interpretive signs, such as the Prehistoric Archaeology Corridor, which introduces the process and discoveries of archaeology, the ecology of animals and plants, geological explanations, biological explanations, etc., allowing the public to understand the story of Zhishan. The second floor is a multimedia classroom with a DIY classroom, where you can unleash your creativity and imagination through hands-on activities and screenings.
